A vibrant urban quarter, a renovated shopping centre, a simplified road system and a new riverside park are part of the final draft masterplan to transform Leatherhead town centre.

Nearly 3,000 people have voiced their opinions on major projects to develop the site at Bull Hill, renovate the Swan Centre and create a riverside park as part of the Transform Leatherhead project.

The project was launched in March last year and has seen council staff consulting residents at village days and fairs, public displays and exhibitions, and online surveys being carried out.

Public exhibitions of the final draft masterplan are due to be held throughout the spring – the dates of which will be announced on Friday, March 4.

Councillor Vivienne Michael, deputy leader and executive member for community engagement and residents services, said: “We are delighted with the level of engagement we have had from residents of Leatherhead and the surrounding villages as well as from local businesses and their employees, young people and a range of community groups.

“The final draft Masterplan builds on the feedback we have received and we look forward to sharing it with the public at a number of exhibitions after Easter”.

The Transform Leatherhead team are planning a number of public exhibitions during April and May details of which will be available on www.transformleatherhead.com from Friday, March 4.
