Valuable commemorative golden jubilee coins and jewellery have been stolen from a house in Leatherhead.

The burglary took place between 9.50am and 3pm on Monday, July 2, with the thieves gaining access by a window at the rear of the house on Tudor Walk while no one was at home.

A Marcasite black gemstone brooch in the shape of an anchor was taken alongside six silver and one gilt commemorative coins.

Investigating officer Dawn Lewis, said: "I would appeal to anyone who has information on the whereabouts of these coins or the distinctive brooch as we need to find the person responsible for the burglary.

"Although they are valuable in their own right they had huge sentimental value to the owner and officers would like to reunite them with the stolen property."

Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting reference MV/12/2617, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
