Police are appealing for information after an 11 year-old boy was pulled off his bicycle in a park and left with bruising on his shoulders and face.

The young victim had been at Ashtead recreation ground with a friend on a Sunday afternoon when two older children became verbally abusive to them so they tried to cycle off.

It is reported that the victim was in the park with his friend when two older boys, believed to be in their mid teens, pulled him off of his bicycle and physically assaulted him, causing bruising to his face and shoulders.

The first suspect has been described as white, around 13-years-old and approximately 4ft 11ins.

He is said to be of a chubby build and with light brown hair shaved on one side and brushed over on the other.

It is believed that he was wearing a white top and white tracksuit bottoms.

The second suspect has been described as white, around 14-years-old and approximately 5ft 5ins.

He is said to be of slim build and with black hair.

It is believed he was wearing a white polo shirt with grey panels.

Both are reported to have London accents.

A police spokeswoman said thankfully the victim was wearing his cycle helmet otherwise his injuries could have been much worse.

Police constable Jenny Juffs, from Mole Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "Surrey Police will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and people of any age should be able to enjoy their local park safely.

"I would like to reassure the local residents that we are doing everything possible to try and locate those responsible - I would urge anyone who saw anything or has any information to do the right thing and come forward."

The incident took place around 5.45pm on Sunday, August 8.
