I live in the Pikes Hill Conservation Area which comprises Pikes Hill, Wyeths Road and parts of Church Road and Albert Road. Not only is this area a conservation area but it is rather unique as it is like a small village even though it is near the centre of Epsom.

We have two pubs – The Barley Mow and the Railway Guard, and a village store – Mini-Store. Mini-Store is the focal point of the area and increases neighbourliness.

The whole area is under threat owing to the amount of people working in the town who park here all day so residents are unable to park anywhere near their homes.

There are particular problems which need addressing:- Mini-Store in Church Road is being adversely affected as casual shoppers who used to stop on their way to work can longer do so as the road outside is solidly parked by non-residents and there is nowhere available nearby.

There was originally another shop in Church Street but this is closed and it would be a real blow if Mini-Store were to close.

Going to the shop during the day means you are unlikely to find anywhere to park and unload. This has created a real hazard for mothers with toddlers and in recent years there has been an increase in young families.

Some people are returning later from work to enable them to park. I hope some action will be taken soon.
