A man from Ewell has been nominated for a national award in recognition of his outstanding services to the care sector.

Robert Taylor, who is in his 50s, works with Epsom based Home Instead Senior Care which provides care for the elderly in their own homes, and is now one of 10 finalists for the title of care giver of the year after being nominated by his boss, Paul Tame.

Mr Tame said: "Robert really understands what this job is about and constantly takes on extra work and thinks outside the box to make sure his clients receive the best possible care.

" In the heavy snow back in December, public transport was not running and Robert braved the weather on his bicycle to make sure each and every one of his clients received the visits they were expecting."

"He is always looking for new ways to help his clients.

"As an extremely talented musician, Robert has brightened many clients’ days by entertaining them with his Spanish guitar skills."

Robert is currently working with a woman who suffers from Huntingdons who he visits three times a week and plays music to her whilst she joins in with the maracas.

Mr Tame added: "Robert makes her so happy, her face just lights up whenever he is there."
