A theatre in Redhill is set to be refurbished thanks to £300,000 from Reigate and Banstead council.
The Harlequin Theatre & Cinema, which was built 25 years ago, is run by the council and is in need of modernising and essential mechanical and electrical work.
Adam De Save, executive member for leisure and wellbeing, said: “We want to make the Harlequin more welcoming and encourage more visitors. By refurbishing and making it fit for purpose, we can optimise emerging development opportunities that are likely to take place in Redhill for the benefit of all the community.”
The refurbishment work will begin in August and will see the replacement of all the catering equipment, work done to the front of house area including the foyer and a new, more efficient, heating system.
