A best-selling author has held a sell-out Q&A session at Stoneleigh Library.

Ben Aaronovitch, who wrote the highly-acclaimed ‘Rivers of London’ series, gave the inspiring talk on March 28.

As a keen supporter of libraries, Ben delighted the audience at the library in The Broadway with energetic tales of what life is like as a successful author.

He also touched upon his relationship with his book’s characters and how different authors go about their writing.

An attendee said: “I found Ben’s answers to the questions to be both refreshingly honest and very inspirational.

“It was fascinating to learn that Ben still doesn’t know exactly why he appeals to such as wide audience.

“I left his talk with a real desire to read more of his books and I’ve borrowed a couple to get stuck into.”

Ben finished the evening with a book signing, supported by Epsom’s recently opened Waterstones bookshop.

Diana Kay, chair of the Friends of Stoneleigh Library, said: “We love giving the community a chance to engage with authors at these events.”

Ben has also written Dr Who serials for the BBC and spin-off novels.
