Attainment 8 is a new way of calculating pupil achievement; it measures the achievement of a pupil across eight qualifications, with maths and English given extra weight.

Nonsuch High School for Girls was the top-performing school in the borough, with a score of 78.9.

Amy Cavilla, Headteacher at Nonsuch High School for Girls, said: “We are delighted to get such a high attainment 8 score.

"The students deserve this recognition for their hard work and commitment, supported by their parents and our expert and dedicated staff add tremendous value on top of that.

"We are really pleased with how well students fared in the new English and Maths GCSEs, with English outcomes being our best ever at GCSE."

Following was Rosebery School, with a score of 60.1.

Ros Allen, Headteacher at Rosebery School, said: "Following our Outstanding Ofsted inspection in May, it is very pleasing indeed to see the efforts of our students and teachers reflected so positively once again, this time in the performance tables.

"Our hard working and conscientious students have risen brilliantly to the challenge of the new and much more rigorous examinations and we are very proud of them and the staff that worked so hard to help them achieve these stellar results."
