A state-of-the-art ultrasound machine that was given to Epsom Hospital after mammoth fundraising efforts has been demonstrated to one of the donors.
The £56,000 scanner, in the Hope Fry Vascular Unit, supports the stroke, DVT and aneurysm surveillance services, as well as patients suffering from symptoms associated with vascular problems.
Epsom Medical Equipment Fund donated the machine, with contributions from the Walton-on-the-Hill Pageant, Michael O, Dorking Deepdene Rotary Club, Residents of Mospey Cresent, former Surrey County councillor Stella Lallemant and County councillor Tina Mountain.
Councillor Mountain, who donated £2,000 from her county councillor's allowance, visited Epsom Hospital for a demonstration by scientist Amanda Clark.
Ms Clark said: “It is fantastic to have a new machine which will benefit all the patients needing vascular ultrasound scans and improve the ultrasound service for the community. Thank you to Bess for her tireless fundraising and to everyone who gave so generously.”
