The Epsom Light Opera Company reeled off sea shanties last weekend while raising money to fund vital medical equipment.

Singers performed excerpts from HMS Pinafore – their upcoming show at the Epsom Playhouse at the Ashley Centre on Saturday, April 2.

Members of the opera company collected £88.04 for the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund while performing.

The EMEF raises money to buy medical equipment for Epsom General Hospital, and has collected nearly £4million since forming in 1979.

The charity is currently saving for a £54,000 ultrasound scanner for the hospital.

Ultrasound equipment plays an important role in diagnosing various medical problems.

Members of Epsom Light Opera Company will be performing and handing out leaflets and flyers in Sainsbury’s in Kiln Lane, Epsom n Saturday, April 9 between 11am and 12noon.

They will once again perform pieces from HMS Pinafore and collect for the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund.

The Epsom Light Opera Company’s HMS Pinafore is at the Epsom Playhouse in Ashley Avenue between Tuesday, April 12 and Saturday, April 16.
