A man has admitted an arson attack which caused £1.5 million worth of damage to lorries at an Epsom haulage company last year.

Carl Richardson, 35, of no fixed address, admitted two counts of arson at Kingston Crown Court yesterday, following the fire at Penwarden Haulage in October.

Nine lorries and a skip belonging to the family-owned company were destroyed in the arson attack in College Road, Epsom at about 5am on Saturday, October 3.

A Premier Skips lorry parked at the site was also burned and suffered irreparable damage.

Richardson (pictured above) was arrested on Thursday, October 29.

He will be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Thursday, April 14.

Detective Constable Karen Scholey, said: "This was a dangerous and despicable act which caused an enormous loss to the company.

"Richardson has been remanded in custody and will appear at Kingston Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday April, 14.”
