Dates for the first ever Epsom and Ewell Arts Festival have been announced as organisers want the borough to come together to celebrate the arts.

The MGSO4 Festival will see the borough turned into a creative hub with three days of live performances, workshops, exhibitions between Friday, June 24 and Sunday, June 26, 2016.

The festival - named after the chemical formula for Epsom salts - will showcase the best creative talent the borough has to offer in music, art, theatre, dance, literature, film and photography, as well as welcoming artists from further afield.

The festival’s celebrity patron and acts performing or displaying at the festival are still to be announced.

Festival director Sarah Dewing said: "We have big ambitions for the festival and our programme is getting bigger and better by the day.

"We strongly believe that MGSO4 will put Epsom on the map as a more exciting place to live, work, study and visit and we want the whole community to join us in celebrating life through the arts."

Brett Lohn was awarded an art scholarship to attend Epsom College aged 13, and now works as a professional artist from a studio on the outskirts of the town.

He said: "I’m very excited to be involved with the arts festival.

"Our borough is nurturing some extremely gifted individuals and I can’t wait to witness the combined impact when their collective talents are given a platform."

The festival committee will be launching a campaign to raise the money needed to make the arts festival accessible for all.
