A new job club opened in Stoneleigh yesterday, in the latest bid by the volunteer sector to get Epsom’s long-term unemployed back into work.
Interview training, CV workshops and networking opportunities will be offered every Tuesday at Stoneleigh Community Library by a team of around 12 volunteers, headed by former education manager Peter Webb.

Mr Webb previously enjoyed success managing a job club in Putney, and he said he aims to apply the same model of employment training to Epsom.
He said: "This service is for anyone out of work to get them back into employment. We’re really excited about the prospect of bringing this tried-and-tested model to Epsom and we’re hoping for a really good turnout every week.
"There are job centres and charities in the area but there’s also a lot we can provide.
"We haven’t got the most severe unemployment in the country, but the task facing us isn’t insignificant by any means.
"There are long-term unemployed people in this community and they face unique challenges."
The service is being also being supported by the Stoneleigh and Auriol Residents’ Association.
