The event – which saw crowds dazzled by live animal shows, a children’s entertainment tent, sport club demonstrations and a Punch and Judy show – was a ‘huge success’, according to Epsom Rotary Club’s Tony Axelrod.
Surrey Comet:

Mr Axelrod, who is also a borough councillor, said the Fun Day was a ‘roaring success’ and that the crowd size was boosted by the favourable weather.

He said: “We’re really please with how this came off, it was definitely one of the best ever. It was a really fantastic community atmosphere and we got an unprecedented number through the gates.

Mr Axelrod, who was one of the organisers of the Fun Day for the last four years, said that the 44 market stalls and the range of entertainment ‘reflected the rich Epsom and Ewell community’.

Surrey Comet:

He said: "These days are all about promoting local youth groups, charities, businesses and of course, putting on a great day for the children.

"We don’t charge much on the door so we always raise a lot of money for charity through people spending within the park."Surrey Comet:

Epsom and Ewell Mayor, Chris Frost opened the festival. MP Chris Grayling described the day as a ‘really great day for our community’.
