The mayor’s support officer will cycle 100 miles to raise money for children with cancer.
Michelle Davies, 32, who supports Councillor Jane Boulton in her role as the mayor of Richmond, will take part in the Prudential Ride London Surrey challenge on Sunday, August 10.
She is raising funds for one of Coun Boulton’s chosen charities, Momentum, which helps children with cancer and their families in Surrey and south-west London.
The route starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before meandering through the capital and Surrey, finishing on The Mall.
Mrs Davies said: "I am very excited but nervous at the same time, cycling is all new to me as I have always been a runner.
"I think I am more nervous about getting to the start than the actual race.
"I know I will get through that even if it does take the whole day."
Also cycling in the race from the Richmond Council’s offices are Joseph Fisher, sustainability team leader Risa Wilkinson, head of care provision Caroline Barrett.
