Drivers are facing 15 weeks of disruption from tomorrow during the final phase of the Epsom station redevelopment.

Roadworks are due to start on Saturday, October 4, on Station Approach from the junction with West Street to the junction with Waterloo Road, in Epsom, from 9.30am to 4.30pm every day.

Following the completion of the revamped station, a public consultation on the allocation of the road space outside the station was conducted and Surrey County Council’s (SCC) local Epsom and Ewell committee agreed a new layout for Station Approach.

Alterations will be made to the pedestrian crossing, allowing for more taxi provision, a bus stop clearway, deliveries, refuse collections and pick-up and drop-off for passengers directly outside the station.

A shared use cycleway will be constructed from West Street to the station, and in Waterloo Road from Horsley Close to the station, by widening the existing footpaths.

Some of these works will be carried out under weekend road closures with a signed diversion route in place and, outside of these times, temporary traffic management will be used.

An information pack from SCC states: "We will do our best to give you access to your house or business when it is safe to do so, however there may sometimes be delays.  Talk to a member of our staff on site about your access queries - talking to our staff can easily solve most issues.

"In case of poor weather the works may be subject to delays, we will keep you updated on any changes via the advance warning signs.

"Keep the road free from parked vehicles.  Please park your vehicle off-road or in another location otherwise your vehicle may be towed away.

"Some of the operations may be noisy therefore please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

"We apologise if our works cause disruption to your bus service, please check with the bus company for any alterations.
