A big-hearted benefactor has donated £1,000 anonymously towards our Shine On appeal for The Sunnybank Trust after reading about it in the Epsom Guardian.

The brilliant charity which supports people with learning disabilities and is based in St Barnabas Church, in Temple Road, Epsom, has raised £4,613 since The Epsom Guardian launched the appeal in May.

The charity, which provides a weekly social club, friendship programme and independent advocacy scheme for the learning disabled, needs to raised £75,000 by next April to continue running its vital services.

Tom Rhind-Tutt, the charity’s founder, said the mystery donation, received last week, from someone who said they had read about the appeal in the Epsom Guardian, had provided a real boost.

He said: "The generosity from people has been astonishing and reflects the importance of local community.

"I would like to say thank you to all those who have donated so far, as it is responses like this that make us more determined to continue to provide our services to the many vulnerable people throughout Epsom and Ewell."
