An injured swan was looked after by officers from Richmond police’s Safer Transport team this morning at Kingston Bridge.
The adult bird, which had an injured leg, had either been hit by a car or had clipped the bridge as it tried to land, the officers said.
The Swan Sanctuary in Shepperton confirmed it had picked up the bird, but could not give any updates on its condition.
A sanctuary worker said reports of injured swans on bridges were a “frequent occurrence”.
