One of the bands tipped for the top in 2011 begin their first ever UK tour next week - and they've chosen Kingston to start it.

Indie five-piece Grouplove, from Los Angeles, are jetting into The Fighting Cocks to showcase their new single and album on Tuesday.

They were named tenth in NME's list of bands to watch last year, who described them as 'a cross between National Lampoon’s European vacation, Summer Lovers and your favourite Yankee mall rat flick from the John Major years.'

They met on the Greek island of Crete after Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi travelled there for an art residency.

They soon made a trio with London-born Sean Gadd and then a quintet when Andrew Wessen and Ryan Rabin, who were also on the residency, joined in.

Despite returning to their respective cities when the residency ended, they could not be kept apart and reconvened in Los Angeles where they have been making sweet music ever since.

Support comes from intricate London indie prog-rockers Arcs.
