Esher and Walton MP Dominic Raab has pledged his support to a £10 million project to rehome the Wildlife Aid Foundation.
He visited the current headquarters in Leatherhead, and also the 20-acre site off Woodlands Road, next to the River Mole and just across from the Elmbridge border, hoped to be the charity's new base.
He said: “Wildlife Aid Foundation has been part of the Surrey community for almost 40 years and the new centre will ensure that it continues to look after wildlife in the south east and beyond well into the future.
"The new education centre will help inspire children and adults about the wildlife all around us. It a terrific project and I look forward to supporting it.”
The centre will comprise a natural wetland, a state of the art animal hospital and rehabilitation centre and an education centre.
Work is expected to begin in 2019 and last for several years.
