Surrey ASG met today in the Post-Graduate Medical Centre at Epsom General Hospital and we were very fortunate to have an excellent talk given by Liz Clarke who is the Lead Commissioning Pharmacist for Surrey Downs CCG.

Ms Clarke spoke about all types of anti-coagulation – their advantages and disadvantages, explaining how vital these medications are in order to reduce stroke in various groups of patients with heart or clotting disorders.

Patient's were also fortunate to be able to speak with Epsom Hospital’s Arrhythmia Nurse, Stephanie Cruickshank who was able to answer some of the clinical questions that were raised by members of the group.

Once again there was an excellent turnout and SurreyASG were very pleased to have a much larger meeting room to accommodate their growing number of members.

Surrey ASG have some eminent speakers arranged for the coming months including Dr Adam Jacques, Clinical Director of the South East Coast Cardiology Network, who will talk about Atrial Fibrillation on Wednesday 8th October- again at Epsom Hospital.
