Angela Mackenzie's dream of starting a choir singing songs from the shows became an astounding reality on Monday 8th September when The Show Choir launched in Banstead. Singers were queueing outside Banstead Methodist Church Hall to have the opportunity to sing songs such as 'All That Jazz', 'I Dreamed a Dream' and 'Mamma Mia'.

"We only put out 24 chairs" said Angela, "But more and more people just kept coming through the doors - the hall was packed , there wasn't enough space on the sign-in sheet, and singers had to share copies of lyrics! We were amazed to find we had 72 people raising the roof with their fabulous singing!" Angela was a professional opera singer, performing on the West End in The Mikado at the Savoy Theatre, and in Sweeney Todd at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. "I've always loved Musical Theatre, and even throughout my career as an opera singer, I've sung songs from the shows in concerts" she said. "Now I can give others the opportunity to sing these fabulous songs in performances throughout Surrey, and support some charities along the way!" 'I Dreamed a Dream' and it became a reality!
