Bank Holiday Monday my family took two cars so they could sell at the Hook Road Arena boot sale.  My daughter-in-law had a very large, heavy pine crib that would not fit in her car so she asked me to take it in mine which I did and was just going to park up in the non-sellers car park.

I drove to the field (empty save for around 6 cars) which was nearest to the entrance and a very irate lady said I could not park there, even though I explained it was for around 15 minutes so that I could wait while someone came to help me carry the crib to where my family were selling and then I would move my car back to the buyers car park. Heaven forbid - not allowed. So I drove to the back far corner not in the way of anybody, but again this time an irate man rushed over and I explained again and he said he would block me in if I stayed there.(A senior citizen by the way.) So I moved it to the main car park and proceeded to go and find someone to help me move the crib.  When we got back to the car the crib had been stolen. Someone recognised it as a very expensive item and although my car was locked stole it out of the back.

This was very upsetting for all of us and could have been avoided through just a teenie bit of understanding from these two attendants.  A car boot sale - not a royal wedding!

What seems to happen is the later you arrive to buy the  nearer you get to park in the field nearest to the entrance which is why I was not allowed to park there, be it for such a short time.

It was extremely busy that day due to all car boot sales being called off the day before due to the bad weather. But previously when we have gone to sell there have been very few cars there - not like in the past years when you had to queue for a long time to get it.  Maybe like me people have found that staff "policing" this event need a lesson in good manners.

While writing perhaps Epsom and Ewell Environmental Department would like to spot check the toilet facilities there - they are filthy.  I appreciate they may start off clean but after around one hour this is not the case.  Again when I pointed this out to yet another guy in a yellow jacket he was extremely rude though the guy whose was responsible for the cleaning of the toilets was pretty cheerful and went straight away to check them out.
