Your anonymous correspondent (Basic human rights under threat, April 16) wanting support for independent candidate Lionel Blackman is surely the ultimate no-hoper.
Why should anyone vote for a parliamentary candidate whose admirable opposition to Conservative -plans to scrap the Human Rights Act is negated by his deplorable silence on equally important issues like the economy, health, education, defence, poverty and Europe.
Fobbing off electors with meaningless twaddle about voting according to "reason and conscience" is a worthless blank cheque when its information on which informed decisions can be made that is needed.
If Mr Blackman and his friends want to keep the protection we all enjoy through the Human Rights Act and stop the Conservatives bringing back capital punishment and flogging they should vote for Stephen Gee the Lib Dem candidate who is the only one with the remotest chance of beating Chris Grayling.
