Making money from parking fines rings an accord with my experience.
In December 2013 I received a ticket after parking on double yellow lines in the Street in Ashtead.
These yellow lines had been placed there many years ago when there was a forecourt to an Esso garage.
This garage closed some 10 years ago and was demolished to make way for a Tesco’s supermarket, which has now been abandoned.
I have been writing to my local county councillor for the last 15 months to have these yellow lines removed as they now serve no useful purpose in regards to safety and traffic management.
I have constantly been fobbed off with poor excuses as to why they cannot be removed.
I made accusations that they are only there now as a cash cow, this has been denied.
My last letter to my councillor was to say if they are not there as a cash cow, why are they at all?
There was no reply to this question.
