I am a 39 year old mum of two with a real passion for fashion, not cutting edge fashion but wearable, affordable, high street fashion that looks good and make you feel great.
I have always been interested in fashion and writing since a young age.
At 21, I completed my degree in English Literature at The University of Kent, went on to work in Fashion PR for a couple of years, a stint in a City bank and at 25 took a gamble and started from scratch as an Administration Assistant in the John Lewis Buying Offices.
It was my dream job, working in Childrenswear, developing girl's clothing ranges with designers and working closely with factories in China to ensure the look and fit of the garment was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed working in a fast paced buying environment, especially the fashion element, predicting future trends and applying them to Childrenswear.
I was promoted to Junior Buyer within a couple of years and it was here I was able to put my own stamp on ranges and really understand the cyclical nature of Fashion and pull from the designer's key looks that will influence the High Street fashion.
I finished working for John Lewis to have my daughter Jessica and three years later my son Jack. I made the decision to leave John Lewis and look after my children whilst they were young. During this time I still kept a keen eye on Fashion, reading every magazine, fashion report, watching the catwalk shows and monitoring the High Street for the best buys.
It is sometimes a tricky time after having your first baby as there are so many changes in your life and I felt better if I was able to put a practical and stylish outfit together keeping spend at a minimum but still managing to look slightly on trend.
Six months ago I started writing a fashion blog called Schoolrunstyle, focusing on Mum-friendly fashion. In my blog I take the catwalk and high fashion street style ideas and find high street clothes that 'nod' to trends worn by fashionistas but can be easily be worn by a Mum on the schoolrun or an evening out.
I am thrilled to be able to write a weekly column in which I will write about up and coming trends and where to buy the best on the High Street.
I will also look at the best elegant basics, the building blocks to a capsule wardrobe. I also really enjoy looking at fashion for different age groups, I will find the best childrenswear at the moment on the highstreet and I will also enjoy writing a column featuring fashion for the more mature and gorgeously elegant lady!
I hope to provide readers with some fashion inspiration that is completely wearable, stylish and at affordable prices.
I aim to bring a little lighthearted fashion flair, style and colour to your Local Guardian read, I hope you will join me there!
