McKibbin named in GB Paralympic team

Wandsworth-born table tennis player Aaron McKibbin has been selected to represent Team GB at this summer’s Paralympics in London.

It will be the 20-year-old’s first Paralympics, he has been competing in the sport for four years and last year took gold in the Brazil open in Rio de Janeiro in both the singles and team events.

McKibbin, who has also won medals at events in Romania, Czech Republic and Argentina and won a bronze at the British Open in the team event, is the 13th GB table tennis player to be confirmed for the Paralympics in August and will compete in the men’s class eight discipline at the Games.

“These players have trained very hard to get to this stage and it’s great that their work has paid off with a bipartite slot,” said Craig Hunter, manager for ParalympicsGB.
