Lightning strikes twice for Weybridge
3:20pm Friday 13th July 2012 in Cricket
Getting on with it: Weybridge skipper Joel Pope
Weybridge collected their second Surrey Championship Premier Division win of the season on Saturday with a low-scoring triumph over struggling Camberley, writes Stuart Amos.
Henry Turner was again the hero as he followed up last week’s six-wicket haul with 4-48 – to go with Phillip Mann’s 4-34 – as Camberley were dismissed for 158 at Hanger Hill.
Weybridge lost wickets at regular intervals, but key contributions from Luc Durandt (30), Mann (25*) and Jack Winslade (22*) ensured they backed up last week’s victory over Malden Wanderers with another win.
Pope sees his side, who are 17 points clear of the drop zone, host Sunbury this week.
Meanwhile, Reigate Priory bowler William Hodson took his league scalp tally to 35 as his impressive 6-54 set his side on their way to a comfortable Surrey Championship Premier Division win over Malden Wanderers on Saturday.
Hodson’s efforts dismissed captain Simon Crampton and his men for 134 and the hosts had little trouble knocking off the runs as opener Andrew Delmont smashed 81 to see his side home for the loss of just one wicket.
Malden go to Banstead on Saturday.
