Miserable day for Purley and Old Whitgiftians
1:15pm Thursday 14th June 2012 in Cricket By Graham Moody, Sports Reporter
No luck: Purley’s Nav Chaudhry cannot stop Dulwich’s Richard Farrow on Saturday. SP67862
Purley endured a torrid day in Surrey Championship Division One on Saturday, writes Graham Moody.
They went down to a comprehensive 10-wicket defeat to Dulwich after being bowled out for just 54 – with only Tauseef Mehdi (11) and Siddhartha Lahiri (10) making it into double figures.
The bowlers could not make any impression either as Dulwich eased to their target and victory.
Also in Division One, Abdul Khalil took five wickets as Old Whitgiftians bowled Ashtead out for 177.
But their batsmen failed to capitalise as they slipped to 55-6 before being skittled out for 125 and a 52-run defeat.
Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian were dismissed for 77, their lowest score in the league since 2007, in their 166-run Division Two defeat to Esher.
Sanderstead registered an unusual draw in Division Five as both they and Oxted & Limpsfield were bowled out for 107.
Saturday: Valley End v Purley, Old Whitgiftians v Brook, Farnham v Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian, Stoke D’Abernon v Sanderstead.
