Richmond gymnast Harry Leaddley celebrated his 11th birthday in style last week by becoming British champion at the National Tumbling Championships in Birmingham.
The Richmond Gymnastics Academy star fought off competition from training partners Joshua Bland - who collected bronze - and Harry Kilby to lift the U12s crown at the National Indoor Arena.
Former world champion and RGA coach Kath Peberdy said: “Harry performed very calmly and consistently over the whole weekend.
“He deserved to take the top title after a string of medals over the last few years.”
Heather Cowell made it a weekend to remember for RGA when she took a bronze medal in the very competitive 13 to 14-year-old girls competition.
Peberdy added: “This was the first time the British Tumbling Championships have been held alongside Trampolining, so it was a whole new venue and experience for all twelve Richmond Gymnasts who qualified for this year’s event.
“It was great to see seven gymnasts qualify for the finals in the top eight in their age group, but winning three medals was a good result for this squad of gymnasts.”
