Surbiton pair Chris Grassick and Alan Forsyth have an important role to play in Great Britain's Olympic preparations, according to head coach Bobby Crutchley.

The pair of Scotland internationals have been named in Crutchley's 22-man squad set for a three Test tour of Australia this month.

The party will play warm-up matches against Western Australia on May 16 and 18 before facing the Kookaburras in the first Test on May 21.

Wimbledon stars James Bailey, Alastair Brogdon, Mikey Hoare, Phil Roper, Ian Sloan and Henry Weir have also made the cut for the trip.

“This is another important part of our preparation for the Champions Trophy and the Olympic Games," said Crutchley.

"We want to challenge ourselves against the best and Australia in their own back yard is about as tough as it gets.

“It’s a great opportunity for the squad to play against a different style of hockey in different conditions and will be a chance for a number of individuals to stake a claim for selection for the tournaments this summer.

"It’s not going to be easy, but we are really looking forward to a positive trip and continuing our development as a group ahead of a big summer of hockey.”

The Kookaburras, coached by Graham Reid, are currently top of the FIH World rankings and will also feature at the Hockey Champions Trophy in London.

They will take on Great Britain in their opening match of the competition in London on  June 10.

Meanwhile, Surbiton's ladies head to Bilthoven in Holland for the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup this weekend, where they will take on UHC Hamburg in the quarter finals on Friday.

Head coach Brett Garrard, whose side was beaten in a shootout by Club Campo De Madrid after drawing 1-1 at the same stage last season, has named Great Britain internationals, Giselle Ansley, Sarah Haycroft, Georgie Twigg and Hollie Webb in his squad along with Scotland international Robyn Collins.
