Teddington skipper James Keightley might have wished he had made a different call after Richmond claimed bragging rights in the first borough derby of the Middlesex County League Premier Division season on Saturday.

Keightley chose to bat after winning the toss at Bushy Park and paid the price, as his side struggled to 108 for four before losing their last six wickets for just nine runs to be all out for 117.

Richmond’s Ryan Higgins – who claimed figures of 2-14 with the ball – then smashed an unbeaten 66 to ease his side to an eight wicket win.

Ealing captain Huw Jones repeated Keightley’s call and it proved the right one as his side dismissed visiting Twickenham for 180 – an innings that feature 73 from in-form batsman Shawn Hicks.

Oliver Wilkin (56) and Robert White (49) ensured there were no dramas as Ealing won by seven wickets.
