Children and families can take part in free drawing and storytelling workshops at Ewell Court Library on Friday 11th August at 11am and Epsom Library on Tuesday 15th August at 2.30pm.

Author-illustrator Zehra Hicks will be reading and signing copies of her new picture book, ‘Giraffe and Frog’, released this August and encouraging children to create their own stories using puppet-making and comic strips.

‘Giraffe and Frog’ is a new, fun picture book about a headstrong giraffe that just won’t listen to his patient but frustrated friend, ‘Frog’. Together they try to head to the beach on a single adventure that becomes complicated when Giraffe has other plans. The workshop using puppetry and comic strips enables children aged 2-10 to develop their own take on the story and have fun during the summer holidays at the same time.

Originally an artist, designer, then mum of two, now author-illustrator, Zehra is passionate about unlocking children’s creativity and expression. She visits schools around the UK giving workshops to help children to develop their storytelling and literary skills through drawing.

Zehra is supporting The Summer Reading Challenge to encourage children to read over the summer holidays. Her events last 45-60 mins and will be visiting different locations across the South of England.

‘Giraffe and Frog’ is Zehra’s fifth picture book. All have been inspired by her own family life, many with a moral and humorous twist. She will be signing copies of this and her other books.
