Residents, friends, family and the whole team at Sunrise of Banstead, on Croydon Lane, joined together this month to celebrate its 12th anniversary.

To officially mark the milestone, the community hosted an ‘Around the World’ themed party to celebrate the big birthday. Team members and residents alike dressed up in traditional outfits from all corners of the globe, with some wearing clothes from their own countries and others enjoying the challenge of making their own costumes from scratch.

For lunch, a themed buffet was provided by the talented dining team, with a whole variety of foods and classic dishes from France, Spain and Italy, to Turkey and Greece.

In the afternoon, residents and guests enjoyed a special performance from Turkish belly dancer, Louisa Maria, as well as live music duo Freeze Frame, who performed music from around the world.

To finish of the day of celebrations, there was an ice cream van, champagne and an Around the World themed cake, with a map of the world in icing on top.

Tamara Juckes, Activities & Volunteer Coordinator at Sunrise of Banstead, said: “We are very proud to be celebrating our 12th birthday here at Sunrise of Banstead. It is an amazing achievement and we are delighted to have been providing high-quality care to so many local people in the area for well over a decade.

“The celebratory party was a real success, and it was excellent to see so many of the residents and the whole Sunrise of Banstead team getting into the spirit, dressing up and joining in with all the fun. We already can’t wait for next year!”
