Epsom town centre has a new coffee shop! Roots Coffee Shop offers a warm welcome, delicious coffee and homemade cakes, snacks, paninis and sandwiches. Located at the Methodist Church in Ashley road Epsom, Roots was formally opened May 25th by the Mayor of Epsom, Cllr Liz Frost.
The Mayor cut a celebration cake and in her speech recalled that the origins of the project date back to 1985 with a small servery offering hot drinks and cakes and the intention of providing a welcoming and friendly atmosphere where people could meet and anyone feeling unhappy or lonely would be sure of a warm welcome and a sympathetic ear.
The new Roots coffee shop continues to fulfil its original intent but in bright and attractive new surroundings, which include a play area for children.
Entertainment at the opening ceremony was provided by Epsom’s Rock Choir, which meets weekly at the church.
Roots Coffee Shop is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm, catering for all ages. The menu includes children’s lunches, vegetarian and wheat-free diets and take-away’s are also available.
