Epsom Primary & Nursery School (EPS) have successfully taken part in a 10 day campaign with fundraising platform Ralloo and home delivery Florist Bloom & Wild and will be receiving £1,000 for their school playground without supporters spending a penny.

Ralloo match people looking for funds with brands that want to support them and as such they approached EPS through the school’s PTA (Family and Friends of EPS) to become involved.

Catherine Grinyer, chair of FFoEPS said “funding and maintaining the upkeep of outside resources is an ongoing challenge for schools and therefore, the opportunity to raise additional funds to support the redevelopment of the quiet area at Epsom Primary School was one not to be missed.”

Mrs Denice Reynolds, Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Quiet Area Project Lead said “A quiet area will provide a sanctuary of calm, with eye-catching plants and flowers, comfortable seating and sensory resources for our children’s well-being."

Continuing “Quiet areas allow children the space to reflect, relax or read and are important for their emotional well-being. At Epsom Primary School our vision is to support all pupils to be the best they can be and our motto is 'Every Person Shines'. Providing a safe, comfortable and visually-appealing quiet area in the playground means our children have access to a space where they can be calm, order their thoughts, reflect on friendships and their learning or just be themselves. It’s important to us that we cater for a different range of needs in the school, a quiet area helps us to provide a more inclusive outside environment.”

The campaign ran online for 10 days and was shared to the school’s parent and local community by using Facebook and Twitter. The goal was to receive 25,000 credits to receive £1,000. Over 330 individuals took part, earning varied levels of credits dependent on which questions/actions they undertook on the campaign portal.

Mrs Grinyer concluded “I am so delighted that EPS were willing to take part in this ground breaking campaign and that our community stepped up to take part. They have rewarded our children with the funds to create something really special.
