This Spring hundreds of volunteers donned yellow tabards and mad hats and took to the streets to collect donations for Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal. The generous residents and shoppers of Epsom donated £3,976 for the terminal illness charity during their annual collections in March and April.

Emily Akeroyd, Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie said “We have been overwhelmed once again by the fantastic support of the local community and it has been great to see so many people wearing our yellow daffodil pins. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and to everyone who has made a donation and supported our cause”. The money raised will support over 198 hours of nursing care for families facing terminal illness in the South East.

Marie Curie provides hands on nursing care to people with any terminal illness in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. They also run a helpline where anybody affected by terminal illness can find advice, information and support or can just talk to someone about what they or a loved one are going through, the number is 0800 090 2309.

Marie Curie is now looking for people in Epsom who could spare a few hours a month to support fundraising in the area. No experience is necessary as full training and support is given and there are a huge variety of opportunities available. If you can spare a few hours and would like to find out more please get in touch with Emily by email at emily.akeroyd@mariecurie.org.uk or phone on 01883 832642.
