Epsom resident Alisha Margetts has helped raise much needed funds for UK pregnancy charity Kicks Count by took on the epic challenge of running 26.2 miles in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon.

Kicks Count is one of the UK’s leading pregnancy charities which aims to drastically reduce the number of families that experience the tragedy of still birth and neo natal deaths in the UK which currently stands at 15 babies every day.

By educating expectant mums on the importance of monitoring their baby’s movements, the charity aims to help to cut this number by at least a third and help expectant mothers have more healthy pregnancies.

Alisha said: “I am a first year midwifery student at University of Surrey with a placement at Royal Surrey County Hospital. I have chosen to support Kicks Count as they empower women to understand their unborn baby's movements, and seek help if they are worried. This is a great charity who have already helped to prevent many unnecessary still births.”

This marathon was Alisha’s second marathon. She completed the run in a fantastic time of 5:16:31 and said “It's been great supporting Kicks Count”

Alisha has already raised £436 for Kicks Count. You can show your support and sponsor her at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Keith-Margetts1
