A committed and highly motivated staff team at Banstead Bunnies has resulted in an outstanding rating for one preschool on the Banstead, Epsom border of Surrey.

There was lavish praise from the Ofsted inspector about the quality and standards of the early years provision, with all the areas of assessment, (effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children) being graded as outstanding.
Ofsted felt staff provided “high quality teaching” and were “exemplary role models for children”, commenting that “the manager is highly motivated and continually reflects with staff on the quality of their teaching, the activities provided and the environment”.
They noted how children thrive at Banstead Bunnies saying “all children consistently show very high levels of confidence, are highly motivated and active learners. They quickly gain the skills they need for future learning”. Ofsted commented on numerous occasions about the “specialist outdoor provision”, that is provided through their Muddy Bunnies Forest School, where children learn skills with tools, learn how to keep themselves safe, and explore the natural environment.
Ofsted took the views of parents, grandparents and childminders who work in partnership with the setting, and found Banstead Bunnies to “fully incorporate the views of parents and children, to continuously maintain a high-quality provision”.

Commenting on the report, the Manager, Emma Mayo said “Since Ofsted changed their grading criteria it has become much harder to achieve outstanding. It is great to see that all the effort and dedication we put into continually improving our setting and providing the highest quality of provision has been officially recognised, we are thrilled".
