The achievements of hundreds of students receiving the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award were recognised at a ceremony last month.

Pupils from Glyn School, Blenheim High School, Rosebery School and The Edge Youth Centre were presented with their awards at Glyn School, in The Kingsway, Ewell, on April 25.

Set up by HRH Prince Philip in 1956, the scheme requires them to complete a range of activities including service to individuals or the community, a physical activity, developing a practical or social skill and take part in an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad.

Presenting the awards the mayor, Councillor Shiela Carlson, praised the young people for showing persistence and commitment in their efforts to gain their awards.
