Friends of Stoneleigh Library celebrated its approval as a small Charity registered with the HMRC by holding its first fundraising activity: a Bring and Buy Sale on 28th February, raising vital funds for the group.
Diana Kay, Chair of Friends of Stoneleigh Library, says, “It was great to see people of all ages at the sale. We have been absolutely delighted with the calibre, skills and enthusiasm of the people backing the library.”
The group is awaiting the outcome of a Judicial Review hearing about Surrey County Council’s plans for the Library Services scheduled for 19th/20th March to see whether it will still need to provide volunteers for the library.
Mrs Kay says, “Whatever happens at the hearing, Stoneleigh Library is sure to benefit from having an active Friends group in Stoneleigh to run additional activities to supplement the core library services.”
The next event the group is planning is an Easter Extravaganza at Stoneleigh Library on Saturday 31st March 10am-4pm where it is planning competitions and activities for all ages.
