Armed robbers who targeted a bookmakers’ in Tadworth left with a small amount of money after subjecting a cashier to a terrifying ordeal.

Three men walked into the Marbles Way store shortly after 8pm on May 4 and threatened an employee.

One was holding what appeared to be a silver handgun and a second carried a dark coloured knife.

The suspects demanded money from the employee who handed over a small amount of cash and as the robbers were leaving they also stole a laptop.

The cashier was not injured during the incident.

Detective Constable Vicki Morris said: “I believe information from the community will prove crucial in establishing the identities of those responsible for this armed robbery.

“I cannot emphasis enough how important it is for anyone with information to come forward. An innocent man, attempting to do his job, was subjected to a terrifying ordeal by these three robbers and with your help we can ensure they are brought to justice.

“I am keen to trace anyone who was in the vicinity of the Marbles Way parade of shops, at approximately 8pm yesterday, particularly the occupants of a small red car as they may, unwittingly, have valuable information.

“It is very concerning to us a business premises has been targeted in this way and we are looking at CCTV footage from the bookmakers and surrounding area.

All three robbers had their faces covered and there are no further descriptions at this stage.

Scenes of crime officers attended the location searching it for forensic evidence.
