An elderly man found dead in a public toilet died from natural causes, police have confirmed.

Police were called to the loos on Tattenham Corner at 10am on Sunday, May 1, following the discovery of the body of a man, who is believed to be in his 80s.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and a post-mortem carried out the next day recorded the death as being consistent with natural causes.

Officers are not treating the death as suspicious and the matter has been referred to the coroner.

Witnesses described seeing the area cordoned off by police and a car removed by a breakdown truck.
