Fashion students from Epsom are transforming old clothes into works of art in a bid to raise cash for charity.

The University for the Creative Arts undergraduates are hoping to breathe new life into garments selected from a British Heart Foundation store in Epsom.

Their efforts will then be displayed by models in a catwalk show at Bourne Hall, where the audience will bid for the customised outfits with the proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation’s Mending Broken Hearts appeal.

One of the UCA designers, fashion innovation student Bobi Sanders, said: “I am very passionate about being part of the British Heart Foundation organisation, and frequent its charity shops on a regular basis as I am a sustainable eco-fashion designer, and only source neglected or recycled fabrics.”

It is the second catwalk show in which BHF volunteers and UCA students have worked together following a successful launch last year at the Epsom Playhouse which attracted 70 people and raised £700.

The event, which organisers hope will raise £2,000, costs £10 to enter and will take place at 7pm on May 11. Call 01372 388430 or email hunth@bhf.org.uk for information.
