More than 1,000 bikers are expected to attend an event aimed at cutting road deaths and injuries in the county tomorrow.

The annual Ready to Ride, organised by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, is held each Spring to spread the safety message following the deaths of nine motorcyclists in Surrey last year.

Kay Hammond, Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said: “We want to help motorcyclists be as safe as possible and that includes making sure their bikes are working properly, particularly if they have been in the garage all winter.”

The event takes place on April 17 from 10am to 4pm at Haslemere fire station, West Street, Haslemere.
