With just a month to go before the local election in Epsom and Ewell we want you to tell us what are the questions you want answered by the people who want your vote.

Cuts to public services are likely to be an important issue following the decision last December by local government minister Eric Pickles to slash council finances, part of the government’s stategy to tackle the budget deficit head on.

The grant Epsom and Ewell receives from central government has been reduced by 6.5% this financial year with a further reduction of 10% in 2012/2013 - an overall loss of £920,000 in real terms.

For residents this has already been felt through cuts to front-line services - such as the closure of public toilets, the charging of disabled people for blue badge parking - and county-wide, with the proposals to introduce on-street parking and to staff libraries with volunteers.

Where do you think the axe should fall and what do you want protected?

The future of Epsom Hospital may also cast a shadow over the polling station. So far our petition to protect it has garnered almost 2,600 signatures.

Will this be a major election issue for you? What do you want to ask the candidates about it?

Over the next four weeks, until the election of May 5th, we will be putting your questions to the Epsom and Ewell election candidates from the four main parties: Residents Association, Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Labour.

Email Charlie Mole at cmole@london.newsquest.co.uk with the questions you want answered by the candidates.
