The Mayor of Epsom and Ewell celebrated his birthday in style with a special cornish themed evening.
Councillor Clive Smitheram was joined by members of the Epsom Light Opera Company at the evening held in West Ewell Community Hall on Friday February 18.
The Mayor, who turned 65, enjoyed a selection of musical numbers from production ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ with traditional Cornish pasties and safron cake with clotted cream.
The evening, which raised almost £1,000 for charities MERU, Dyscover and The Samaritans, was rounded off with a rendtion of Trelawney, a traditional Cornish folk song.
