A 34-year-old mum-of-four has been jailed for four months after claiming more than £32,000 of unentitled benefits.

Helen Franklin, from Campbell Road, Weybridge, admitted failing to notify the correct authorities that her partner had been living with her and her children from June 2003 to April 2007 and was in full-time employment.

She pleaded guilty to four counts of dishonesty at Guildford Crown Court on April 11 and was ordered to pay back Elmbridge Council and Guildford Department for Work and Pensions some £22,000 of the £32,389.18 that she fraudulently gained.

The judge said Franklin should serve a minimum of two months imprisonment.

Anyone with information about people committing benefit fraud can phone the council, in confidence, on 01372 474291.
