Pregnant women cared for by Epsom and St Helier hospitals can now access all their maternity medical notes using an app.
The app called Maternity Notes lets healthcare professionals and pregnant women access maternity medical notes using their laptop, smartphone or tablet.
It will replace all paper handheld notes to reduce paper waste and make sure medical notes can be kept more secure.
Information available on the app includes blood test results, reminders about and soon their scan reports.
The app allows pregnant women to add information about their preferred birth plan and it will soon let them flag up any allergies or relevant health issues prior to booking.
The app is also available as a secure online portal called BadgerNet.
Marion Louki, director of midwifery and gynaecology nursing, said: “Maternity notes will not need to be carried, preventing them getting lost.
“BadgerNet should make life easier for both mothers and healthcare workers, bringing our maternity services forward into the 21st century and enhancing accessibility and data security.”
