Epsom and Ewell residents are being urged to return their annual canvass forms so they can vote in the next borough council elections in May 2019.
Annual canvass forms are on their way to every residential address in the borough, and residents should check and update any information online, by telephone or post.
A spokesperson for Epsom and Ewell borough council said: “With local borough council elections taking place in Epsom and Ewell in May 2019, this is an important opportunity for residents to make sure they can take part.
“If your name is not on the electoral register, you won't be able to vote in any elections.”
Residents not on the register may find it difficult when applying for mortgages, loans, insurance or credit, as credit reference agencies use the register to check addresses of applicants.
Registering to pay council tax does not automatically register you to vote.
You can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
For advice, contact the council’s electoral services team on 01372 732120 or electoralservices@epsom-ewell.gov.uk.
